They were asked to write fifty words in English. the usual test, but failed to do so. WELLINGTON, Feb. 24. Witli reference to the refusal of the Commonwealth authorities to allow (wo Maori shearers to land, one of the men in question waited on the Evening Post and stated that he had not been tested by the Australian authorities. He demonstrated to the Post staff his ability to write.
