Manawatu Herald. THURSDAY, FEB. 23, 1905. Foxton Water and Light, AN ADVANCED STAGE.
It is our pleasant duty to report that from a well-attended meeting of townsmen at the Public Hall last night, a committee of learned gentlemen was appointed to go into the matter of providing Foxton with a water and light service, and report, j to the Borough Council on the ; matter. We must all know that j Foxton will have to see to those ; matters, ansi the committee , appointed, can, we think, devise tiiC ; most suitable, effective and less | expensive scheme possible. Of | course, tha committee have only the i power to report to the Council, butwe hope that such report will be so 1 valuable that the Council will not | hesitate to send the necessary Ida it to carry out the project to the poll. There would the be only one result. Whatever money is required will be approved of by the ratepayers, and it behoves the Council to put the | matter to the proper test, in the j meantime, it is for tiie ''ommittee io ' strike the nail on the head, and use j the anvil while the iron is hot. I They should meet immediately and ' devise and promulgate a suitable , scheme, so that it will be plain to j the Councillors that such a scheme | has the hearty support of those • electors who placed them in their seats on the Council. The next | Council meeting is little Over a | fortnight ahead, so we would advise ; the committee to set to work j immediately, and we are sure good will result, not only to ratepayers ! individually, but to the general progress of the town and district;
