Montgomery’s New Specialty Company.
The above company were greeted with large audiences at the Public Hall, both on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings, and certainly the merit ot the performance demanded the applause which greeted the different items. As is usual with Montgomery's show, the pictures thrown upon the screen were first-class, being both original and clear to the eye. Two pictures deserving of special mention are “The Great American Train Robbery ” and “ Our Lifeboat Men," which certainly do much to advertise the wonder and worth of the Biograph. Mr Edmund Montgomery’s voice has has lost none of its pleasant tone since last he visited Foxton, whilst the Misses Ettie Hargood (soprano) and H. Hargood (contralto) contributed pleasing items. Some of the illustrated numbers by the above vocalists were really good. Tod Callaway is nothing if not humourous, and his comic singing throughout fairly caught on. Recalls seemed to have no limit with “ Tod," as he was continually responding with fresh items, Zeno, the classic juggler, is clever, and he can rely on receiving the attention of Foxtonians when he prefers to revisit us. His hat business was particularly entertaining and accurate. Miss Esther Nordcrn, A.L.C.M., presided at the piano in an efficient manner. Altogether the show was amongst the best we have had in Foxton and the large audiences should prove that Mr Montgomery is losing none of his popularity.
