Montgomery’s New Specialty Company.

TO-NIGHT.

Speaking of the above company, the Wanganui Herald of Feb. 4th says “ A very large and enthusiastic audience assembled at the Opera House to welcome the re-appearance of Montgomery’s Biograph Company. Since its last appearance here the popular proprietor has greatly strengthened his exhibition, both in pictorials and a diversity of fresh talent, and the show is about the best of its class now travelling. The pictures were beautifully clear and free from the defective vibration that we are so used to, and depicted the numerous scenes to perfection. The Great Train Robbery was a thrilling and life-like exhibition, and it was quite a relief to those present when the picture concluded, everyone being worked up to a great pitch of excitement by the seeming reality of the occurrence, Our Lifeboat Men was another splendid picture, realistic in every detail, and was rewarded by a great outburst of enthusiasm. The illustrated songs by the only Edmund Montgomery and Miss Hargood were feelingly rendered, and met with unstinted approval. The latest additions to the company are artists of the first grade, and include Tod Callaway and ' Zeno. Tod is about the funniest j comic singer that has amused a WanI ganui audience for many a day. Some • five or six patter songs were rendered before he was allowed to quit the j stage. He would be a success any- } where. Zeno, the juggler, is a topnotclier, and the numberless new tricks

shown by him clearly proves that in the hands of an artist —like Zeno—the age of invention has not been exhausted. He juggles with anything and everything, his tricks are clean and clever, and he is rightly termed “ the classic juggler.” We should also mention the efforts of the pianiste, Miss Esther Nordern, A.L.CM., whose artistic playing was much admired.” The company will appear at the Public Hall this (Tuesday) and tomorrow evenings.
