Manawatu Herald. SATURDAY, FEB. 4, 1905. Egg-Laying Competition.
We are in receipt of a circular from : the New Zealand Egg-Laying Competition Association, setting forth the conditions, prizes, etc., of the competition to be held under their ; auspices at Blenheim from May Ist, I 1905, to April 30th, 1906. The ; Department of Agriculture will i supply a manager to take charge of j the competition under the direction ■of the Association. Birds engaged | must not be less than six months old ’ or more than 18-months old on May ■ Ist next, and the competition will be open to pens of six purebred birds of any variety. The total number of eggs laid by each pen will decide the competition. Prizes are offered for quarterly laying, half-year'y laying, and also for the full length of time of the competition. First and second prizes will be given for the highest number of eggs registered monthly. Much good will be derived from this competition, and we hope to hear of the Association growing in popularity. Anyone wishing to inspect the circular can do so by calling at our office.
