Some months ago an unusual amount of bluster was made in connection with our Rowing Club, but after the storm came a dead calm-so calm, in fact, that there appears to be no such a club in existence. Have their lights completely flickered out ? It certainly appears so to us ! What with having the advantages of a splendid river handy to town, and, in fact, every facility for boating purposes close at hand, we see no reason why some life cannot be put into the affair. It seems highly incredible that a band of men cannot manage their affairs amicably 9o incredible that we place a deaf ear to the reports circulated that it is a matter for impossibility for the Boating Club to thrive. It has come to our ears that the main cause of inoperation has been the failure of members to meet subscription arrears. Surely such cannot be the case! However, we hope that a full meeting of members will be called shortly, and that interest will be fully revived in sculls. Do lose your present nom de plume so appropriately attached—“ Old Woman Brigade.” We hope this hint will suffice to stir boating-enthusiasts up somewhat!
