Rope and Binder Twine Works.
THE PROPOSAL CARRIED.
Between thirty and forty of Foxton’s most prominent townsmen attended the meeting at Haywood’s Hotel hist evening to consider the advisability of forming a Rope and Binder Twine Company. Much interest was evinced in the proposal. Mr G. A. Simpson (Mayor) was voted to the chair.
The position of secretary was filled by the appointment of Mr 6. Stiles, pro tem. On the motion of Mr Jas. Hurley, seconded by Mr P. Robinson, it was proposed and carried that a Rope and Binder Twine Works be started in Foxton.
Proposed by Mr A. D. Olemett, seconded by Mr H. Austin, That a Committee, consisting of Messrs G. Simpson, H. Austin, F. Easton, M. Walker, J. Symons, W. Walden, W. Hamer, T, Jones and G. H. Stiles, be formed to get all the information that can be gained, and report at ft future meeting to be held one month from date. This proposal was carried.
To meet the preliminary expenses of the meeting, the sum of 2s 6d per head was levied. Votes of thanks were carried to Mr T. Haywood for the use of the room, and to the Chairman and Secretary. COMMITTEE MEETING. At a Committee meeting held immediately afterwards, Mr G‘. A. Simpson was chosen as Chairman and Mr G. H. Stiles as Secretary, pro tern.
