DEFENCE WORKS BLOWN UP. JAPS CAPTURE A PERMANENT FORT. The simultaneous explosion of two mines containing two tons of dynamite which had been driven forty feet under the breastworks of tbe north fort, East Keekwanshan, en Holes the forlorn hope to get a footthrough the breach. Sixty soldiers were buried in the debris. This is the first permanent fort captured, indicating that the Japanese have pierced the main enciente. Admiral Togo believes the Sevastopol has been disabled though there is not definite data for a final verdict. Several torpedoes were seen to hit hsc and explode.
