A case of the ill-treatment of a dog was heard, in which the accused was fined 40s and costs. . OBSCENE LANGUAGE. A local resident was charged with using obssene language in a railway carriage. Accused (for whom Mr Moore appeared) elected to be tried before a jury, and was accordingly committed for trial at the next sittings of the Supreme Court at Palmerston North. DRUNK. For temporarily losing his equili-| brium, B. Marsh was fined 5s or 24’ hours.
