YESTERDAY. (Before A. D. Thompson, Esq. S.M.^ Civil, BUSINESS. Cummerfield and Spring v. J. Walsh. Mr Moore for plaintiff. Judgment by default for £l3 Ds 3d, coats 19s, fee 15s 6d. Same v. Kino. Judgment by conssnt for £2 16a 9d, costs 7s, fee ss. Same v. Alf. Morgan. Judgment by default for £3 4s Id, costa ss, fee ss. Same v. F. Robinson. Judgment by default for £8 8s 6d, costs Bs, fee 15s fid. game v. A. Lister. Judgment summons for £8 16s lid. Defendant was ordered to pay the amount at the rate of £1 a month, the first payment to be made on 2nd January next. Gun Kue (Mr 6. Moore) v. Dingo Lee (Mr R. Moore). Claim for £4 damages for detention of The boat had since been returned. The Magistrate ordered payment of £1 damages, costs 7s and fee sa. CRIMINAL, PROHIBITEDS. A charge under the new Licensing Vet proved disastrous to F. Coyle—that of being a prohibited person and procuring liquor from some person. Fined £5, costs 7s, or one month. J. Wilaon, also a prohibited person, for procuring liquor, was fined £5, costs 6s, or a month. Accused elected to “ take it out.” THE HAWSER. For hawking without a license, T. Costello was fined £1 and costs 7s. INSULTING LANGUAGE. For using insulting language, J. Barnurn was fined 40s and costs 9s, ILL-TEEATING A DOG. A case of the ill-treatment of a dog was heard, in which the accused was fined 40s and costs. . OBSCENE LANGUAGE. A local resident was charged with using obssene language in a railway carriage. Accused (for whom Mr Moore appeared) elected to be tried before a jury, and was accordingly committed for trial at the next sittings of the Supreme Court at Palmerston North. DRUNK. For temporarily losing his equili-| brium, B. Marsh was fined 5s or 24’ hours.
