When once they do get a footing, the struggle may practically be over, for with such a splendid navy to protect them, troops will be poured in from Japan in great numbers, which Will give them the upper hand both in defence and attack. Latest cables report a. bombardment of the city by the Japanese extending over nine hours. Russian deserters are increasing in numbers, and part of the town is reported in flames.
