Meeting of Creditor’s.

RE THOS. LEE, BANKRUPT. A meeting of creditors of the above named bankrupt held in Mr R. Moore’s Office on Wednesday afternoon last was attended by Messrs Walker, Alcorn, M. Perreau, and L. E. Reade (solicitor for the bankrupt). One or two other creditors were represented by proxy. The meeting was convened by the Deputy Official Assignee. Mr Moore, (who represented the ' creditors and the Official Assignee), was appointed chairman. The bankrupt’s statement and the , evidence given by him at the previous meeting in Palmerston (which was i published by us at the time) were read. An offer had subsequently been made by Mr Reade, on bankrupt's behalf, of £lO in settlement of all claims. The creditors, being of opinion that the bankrupt’s interest in his land and other property must be worth three or four times that amount, decided not to accept the offer. It was also decided to ask the Official Assignee to exercise his powers under section 77 (b) of the Bankruptcy Act with regard to land purchased by the bankrupt in his wife’s name, also to realise for the benefit of the creditors on the stock held by the bankrupt and not included in his statement of affairs.
