STRATFORD, Nov.T. William Charles Goodwin, a son of Mr Charles Goodwin, the well known farmer of Cardiff, drowned himself in a pond this morning. An accident resulting in the death of a nine-year-old daughter of John Taylor, of Kaipara Flats, occurred on Sunday. While the parents were engaged outside, the little girl was sitting by the fire, and her. dress came in contact with the flames. She ran out to her parents, but was so badly burnt before the flames were extinguished that she succumbed. : GREYMOUTH, Nov. 1. A young man named Pascoe has been badly injured through a tree falling on him. An operation was performed this afternoon at the hospital.' He is in a critical condition. Peter Anderson, mate of the Pelotas, last night tripped while stepping from the wharf to the vessel, fell in the river, and was drowned. Blacklock, a sailor, jumped in after him, but could find no trace ot the mate. The night was dark. The body was recovered to-day.
