RUSSI \NS CAPTURE GUNS. A Tokio telegram, dated the ISth; states the Russians rallied and epveloped Yamadi’s column on Sunday, capturing 14 guns. A dangerous disaffection is spreading in Russian cities since the recent defeats. The newspaper Matin states that serious defects in gun fittings will probably compel the Baltic fleet to return to a Russian port foe some Tty/solra port Arthur! The Japanese are using balloons to direct high angle fire on the ships at Port Arthur. Correspondents have been admitted among the besiegers at Port Arthur. General Stoessel, who is in charge of the garrison, expects s the next attack on the Mikado's birthday. KUROKI PRESSING THE RUSSIANS. "■ The Standard says Kuroki is pressing the enemy eastward into the mountains. The Russian case is desperate. The Japanese have captured 14 guns and are steadily harassing the retreating Russians. Kuropatkin is frequently, under fire. A shell burst near him. An unconfirmed Mukden telegram states that Kuropatkin, with two reserve divisions, drove into Nodnz's centre on Monday, inflicting a crushing blow and capturing many guns and one hundred prisioners. Heavy trains of sixty carriages are running on the Trans-Siberian railway. The supply of surgeons in the Pat East is utterly inadequate. • Thousands of wounded are unattended. . There are heavy losses in the regiments composed of Jews, Finns, and Poles.
