Manawatu A. & P. Association.
A Carnival of Agricultural Industry is what might be applied to the three days Show to be held on November and, 3rd and 4th at Palmerston North by the Manawatu and West Coast Agricultural and Pastoral Association. The comprehensive nature of a Show of this description affords many valuable opportunities to the live stock breeder and merchant to effectively reach the agricultural and pastoralist. The opportunities of those engaged in these industries arc limited, and more often than otherwise devote attention to a big Show where at a glance one can gather what is being done in this and other parts ot the colony, examine the mechanical improvements, and the time spent in a close inspection is a most valuable tactor in agricultural education. It is evident that this is recognised by the committee of the above Society, for in a most liberal manner have they catered for all divisions to induce competition, and assist in building up the industries which come under its scope. For instance, in the Spring Show the Association's prize list offers £1,517 asprixe money : —Horses, £290 ; cattle, £305 ; sheep, £335 ; pigs. £74 ; dogs, £4l ; poultry, £155 ; produce, horticultural, home industries and general industrial work. £lO3. In addition to these prizes specials to the value of and 26 champion medals are to bo awarded. Exhibitors at this Show in all departments praise the studious attention devoted to the care ot stock and general exhibits every year, and judging from the many improvements effected the work of the Association is not lacking in progress.
