A slip on the Manawatu line delayed trains somewhat to-day. A meeting of the Foxton Rugby Uqion is convened for to-night at the Post Office Hotel at 8 o’clock. Whilst the s.s. Himitangi was crossing the Manawatu bar yesterday she ran aground, where she still lies. Owing to the inclement weather it has been decided to postpone the Methodist social until Monday evening. Members of the Awahou Football Club are requested to attend an important meeting to-night at 8 o’clock at the Post Office Hotel. We understand a charge of procuring liquor for two prohibited persons will be brought against an offender shortly at the Foxton Court. A challenge has been received from the Wanderers’ Club (Manakap) to play the Foxton Rep. Footballers at Levin on Saturday afternoon next. Those who are able to attend are requested to inform Mr J. Louisson as soon as possible. The boisterous weather yesterday pr evented all outdoor sports being held. As a consequence, the Eight Hours’ Sports Committee at Palmerston had to abolish the idea of holding the picnic and sporfs at Foxton. These sports are to be held at the Sports Ground, Palmerston, on Saturdaynext, commencing at 10.30 a.m.
