FOXTON SCHOOL.
tro THE EDITOR OF THE MAKAWATU HERALD. Sir,— Noticing your remarks re alterations to Foxton School which I consider to be misleading, 1 make explanation. Instead of there being two or three openings left witiiout doors, there is only one. This opening was never intended to have a door, which is well known to the school inspector, the Education Board, also the Education Board’s architect ; and if the School Committee would follow the advice of the Education Board’s Building Inspector when he was here, and hang a curtain in front of it on a brass rod, so that it can be pushed from one side to the other, they would do the right thing, as if a door is placed there it will take up a lot of valuable room which cannot be spared. The remark which the Building Inspector made to Mr Stewart in my presence was that he was very well pleased with my work, and it was passed without an alteration, so that if Mr Stewart or the Committee have other designs, they should not be confounded with my contract just finished. Thanking you for giving me the above space in your valuable paper.—l am, etc., A. Spiers.
