Dix’s Entertainers.
Mi- P. R. Dix, ever to the fore with wholesome and high-class musical and merry-making entertainments, has but recently revived the old-time popularity of the Theatre Royal, Wellington, with an extraordinary measure of success. Having Wellington as his permanent base, Mr Dix is enabled not only to import the choicest and most expensive “ turns ” from Sydney and Melbourne—“ turns ” that have in the first place been brought to Australia from England and America —but to send them on tour throughout New Zealand. In this connection, the No. i Touring Company, which will appear in Foxton on Friday next, includes the world-famed Quartette of Vaudeville Artistes, “ The Gothams,” who were brought to Australia by Mr George Musgrove at an enormous salary for his iast pantomime in Sydney, and who now make their first appearance in New Zealand. Among the Artistes supporting are Miss Dora Taylor, Mr Samuel Rowley, Mr George Shaw, Miss Louis Perfect, Mr Samuel Gale, and the Sensational Cyclists, the Wheelers. The heavy expense involved limits the visit to Foxton to the one night stated. Mr J. F. MacMahon has completed all local arrangements.
