Messrs Levin & Go’s Report. We offered to-day 80 ba'es of wool and 2000 skins, 200 hides and a quantity of tallow. Wool ruled firm at late rates. Crossbred ruled at to 7}d, superior orutchinga at 6|d to sfd, medium at 5d to s£d, and inferior at Bsd to 4^d. Skins showed an advance of a farthing all round. We quote Merinos, Gfd to 7|d ; halfbreds, 6fd to 7fd ; fine crossbreds, Gfd to 7fd ; coarse, 6|d to 7d ; short wools, 5Jd to sfd; dead skins, 4|d to sfd; butchers’ green, 6s to Gs 2d each. Tallow was in good demand at better prices. Rough fat realised 15s to 15s 9d; tallow in tins, 17s 8d; in casks, 18s 8d to 18s Gd. Hides.—Prices remain the same. A large proportion of the offerings to-day were badly flayed, and slippy hides. The loss through this want of care on the part of the owners must represent a fair sum, and it is a matter for regret that more attention is not paid to the proper flaying and salting of the hides. We quote: —Cows, light, 11s to 14s ; medium, /Iff ato 17s; heavy, 17s to 20s. Ox, light, 15s to 20s; medium, 20s to 225; heavy, 22s to 26s 6d. 1 Wellington, 16th Sept., 1904. Messrs Dalgety & Go’s. Butter.—Since the date of our last telegram Danish butter is higher by 5 kroner (about 5s Gd) per cwt. For stored the market is firmer but there is not much business doing. There is a good demand for fine New Victorian. Wool Sales.—At the Antwerp sales prices of Merinos are at par to Jd higher as compared with average rates of last Antwerp sales. Crossbred wools are firm.
