Parliament.
HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES. In the House on Tuesday last the Premier introduced# motion to the effect that a Commission should he set up to deal with the land question. An amendment was then moved by Mr Massey in favour of the freehold, and against the appointment o! a Commission. Mr Seddon accepted this as a want-of-conffdenoe motion,. and announced that no other business would be taken until the matter had been settled. The Premier also submitted to the House his new Licensing Bill, particulars of which are unavoidably held over until Saturday. LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL. A debate ensued os Mr Bigg'S motion of protest against the introduction of Asiatics into the Transvaal. Mr Biggin the course-of a speech lasting an hour and a half, scathingly condemned the policy of the British Government in dealing with the Band, and also made some caustic remarks concerning Mr Chamberlain, whom he referred to as the author of the whole mischief.
