Found Drowned.

DROWNED IN A POOL OP Water. On Sunday morning a man named Joseph Gra} 7 , son of the late Mr Charles Gray, of. Makino, was found dead lying face downwards in a pool of water on his brother’s farm at Lower Aorangi, on the Oroua Downs. The deceased, it appears, was subject to periodical fits. Whilst he was crossing a paddock alone, he was apparently overcome by the disorder mentioned, and fell face downwards into a small pool of water. Death, it is supposed, was caused by drowning. Mr W. Osborne, who fopnd the deceased, says that he could only have been dead a short time, as the body when discovered was quite warm. Restorative measures were applied without success. Gray was a farm labourer by occupation (says the Manawatu Times), and 36 years of age. He appeared to be in usual health yesterday, and went out to meet some members of the household when the unfortunate •vent took place. Some time ago he fell into a fire whilst suffering from a fit, and was severely burnt in consequence. Dr. Stowe, who had previously attended the deceased, forwarded a certificate to the police stating that the deceased had been subject to fits, but as some time has elapsed since he last attended him, it has been decided to hold an inquest. The latter will be held this afternoon at Mr Osborne’s farm, Lower Aorangi.
