Murder by Natives.

A RECRUITER AND HIS CREW MURDERED.

News has been received from the New Hebrides to the effect that Dick Pentecost, a well-known recruiter, with four of his crew of the cutter PetreTf and two native women recruits, were murdered by natives at Aurora Island.

The vessel anchored close to the Jiore, and Pentecost and the two women, who were aboard, were surprised by the natives. Pentecost’s body was cut up and dn-owu into the sea. Four of the crew were shot while they were ishore.

The vessel, which was sacked and cast adrift, was found by the schooner In ia and towed to Aure Island.

One member of the crew, a boy, was saved by swimming out to sea. fie afterwards rejoined the cutter.
