Sculling Championship.

STANBURY LIKELY TO CHALLENGE TOWNS. There is a probability that George Towns, who beat R. Tresidder last Saturday for the sculling championship of the world, will have to defend the title against James Stanbury. *

A cable message has been'received from supporters of Towns in London offering to back him to meet Stanbury on the Thames for a thousand pounds a side. Stanbury’s supporters are not at present inclined to accept the offer, considering the Parramatta course good enough. It is stated that Stanbury can get plenty of backing locally, and is confident that the match can* be arranged.
