Social.
The .social held in the Primitive . Methodist Schoolroom last night was one of the most successful yet held. Tjjiere very large attendance of file-general public, and an enjoyable * ‘‘’evening was spent. The Rev. W. Harris presided, and the following programme was gone through Overture, Miss Withers; song, “ Tell them • that ydu saw me,” company; recitation, “ How Bones broke the ten mile record," Mr Simpson ; song, “ Four Leaf Clover ’’ and as an encore song, “ Three Little Bonnets,” Miss Haywood ; duet, “ Very Suspicious,” Mr Osborne and Miss Simpson; song, “ Evening Song,” Mrs Howorth ; song, “Clorine,” Mr Hickson; lightning sketches, Mr Hunter; song, ‘‘He is Coming," Miss Withers ; duet, “ Fanny Grey," Mr Simpson and Mrs Hunter ; song, “ Ring down the Curtain,” Miss Simpson ; recitation, “ Not Understood,” Mr Simpson; pianoforte solo, Miss Seabury ; song, “ Land o’ the Leal,” Mrs Hunter; gramophone selections, Master Hamer. A plenti- , ful supply of refreshments were i handed round during the evening, and the performers all acquitted themselvs • creditably. Button-sewing and hattrimming competitions caused a lot of amusement. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded to Mi and Mrs Simpson for providing the social, and to the ladies and gentlemen who had assisted with the programme. It was announced that the next social would be given by Rev. Mr and and Mrs Harris on August 24th!
