Mr A. Shadbolt, secretary of the Union, has got things well in hand and hopes on Saturday to see one of the greatest matches ever seen in Foxton, as far as football is concerned, take place. He has 110 ?i , names of players on his list from the different clubs that intend competing for the Mayor’s (Mr G. Simpson) trophy. This will be the first trophy ever given in Foxton for football, - and will tend to show the public of Foxton what our young blood is made of ' Th6,first round of matches were <• drawn on Saturday and resulted as follow;—Foxton meets Kiwi; Poroutawhao meets Motuiti. ' Tlie match Foxton v. Kiwi, which takes place on the racecourse on Saturday next, is arousing great in--3 locally, and a real good go is expected. Poiroutawhao on present performances should have no trouble in beating Motuiti. We think when the tournament is finished the position of the teams will be ;—Poroutawhao 1, Awahou 2, Kiwi 8, Motuiti 4.
