An indignation meeting to protest against the granting of the wholesale •icense at Rongotea was held in that ownship on Monday evening. Mr J. Sanson occupied the chair. Speeches were delivered by the chairman, and Messrs Darragh and Glover, and Eev. G. Sims, all of whom condemned the action of the Manawatu Licensing Committee in granting the license when a large majority of the residents of Rongotea were opposed to it. The following resolution was carried unanimously, on the motion of Mr N. Gifford, seconded by Mr G. And we earnestly appeal to the Minister for Justice praying him to bring down legislation amending the law so as to prevent a repetition of the outrage committed in Rongotea. The following residents were appointed a deputation to wait upon the Minister of Justice with the resolution and also to place before him the whole history of the case : Messrs J. Glover, W. Darragh, B. Hunt, J. Sanson, T. McKenzie and Rev. 0. Sims. It was further decided on the motion of the Rev. C.
