JAPANESE SENTRIES AROUND PORT ARTHUR. The transport Taihoka Maru was laying mines at Port Arthur when an explosion occurred, kil ing 19, including an officer, and wounding nine others. The ship was noli damaged. Japanese sentries are stationed every 50 yards round Port Arthur. Admiral Togo has destroyed 80 mines in the high seas. The Japanese are entrenching at Sukew. Captain Lake, the designer of the Protector, has sailed from Europe. It is understood he proceeds to Japan to superintend the construction of marines.
A WEALTHY BUTCHER - EXILED.
General Kuropatkin has exiled to Tobolsk (West Siberia) a wealthy butcher of Chita who tried to corner the army’s meat supplies. General Kuropatkin has threatened to requisition all provisions if merchants attempted to artifioally raise prices.
