Faith-Healer Dowie.
WARM RECEPTION IN ENGLAND. Dowie, after considerable difficulty, evaded the pressmen, and engaged a suite of rooms at the Hotel Cecil. He stated the manager requested him to leave when he discovered his name. He addressed 300 Zionists at the Tabernacle in Euston road, lunching in the building in order to avoid a crowd outside. Ho conducted two services. He denied having used insulting language to the King. He only said the King had no religion to spare, and claimed his right as a Minister to rebuke the King. A bodyguard escorted him to his cab amid hooting and cat calls. “ HEATHEN ENGLAND HAS REFUSED ME.” Dr Dowie on reading the newspapers on Monday, exclaimed, “ Heathen England has refused me ” He suddenly crossed the English Channel and starts for New York by the French steamer. Many cripples and others who were awaiting him at. the Tabernacle were disappointed, and the audience, when informed of his flight, broke up in confusion.
