Foxton Presbyterian Church.
There was a large attendance, at the Foxton IVesbyt-e. lan Church last evening on !he occasion. of the annual nice tine; of the congregation. Tlio Rev. ,}. L’oull, of Bui Is. the Moderator of the » barge. presided, ■irftd delivered an able and interest' itt« address on “ Presbyterianism,” don limy >vb.h the, main principles of the Creed, and with rlie UMory and growth of Frenhyterianism as a world-wide organisation.
The report and balance-sheet presented by the Secretary of the Committee of Management, showed that good progress had been made during the year, and the congregation looks ionvard to making a further advance in the ensuing twelve months. In commenting on the Church Keport the M oderafeor expressed satisfaction with nm progress that had been made, but emphasised tiie necessity for at once placing the finances of the congregation on a sound footing. It is proposed by the committee to organise a Sustentation Fund in order to provide a regular source of income for carrying on the work of the Church. The following Committee of Management was appointed for 1901-5 ; Messrs A. Speirs, .1. iSpeirs, Henderson, w. Barnard and 11. Moore (Secretary and Treasurer.) The programme was pleasantly diversified by the rendering of solos by the following ladies and gentlemen :—Mrs I lowurtli “Eternal Rest,” Miss Haywood “LUmen of Angels,” Airs Tinnier < >n!y Tired,” : Alias Spring “ Cates of the \V esc,” i Mr Keys “ Landing of the Pilgrim | Fathers,” Air Hutchison “The Holy j Shrine.” • Air Hunter kindly lent a' piano for the occasion, and Aliss j Fume played all the accompaniments with credit to herself.
Mr Hutchison, in a short address, made reference to the various departments of the work of the Charge under his care, and exprellbd his appreciation of the many kindnesses which had been shown to him since his arrival in Foxton. On his motion a hearty vote of thanks was accorded to Mr Doull for his address, to the singers who had so kindly assisted in the programme, and to the ladies of the congregation providing refreshments. The singing of the Doxology brought a very enjoyable meeting to a close,
