ATTACKED IN DAYLIGHT. Charles John McLennan, with some aliases, after bearing evidence against him in a charge of assault and robbery, pleaded guilty and was committed to the Dunedin Supreme Court for sentence. He had followed a fellow-lodger at 8 o’clock in the morning, and knocked him down and robbed him. Mr Graham, S.M., commented ad» versely on the conduct of three men who had seen the offence and bad made no effort to detain the accused, merely reporting the matter to the police.
