WINTER SHOW
The poultry section in connection with th? Winter Show of the above Association, which is to be held on June 21st to 24th inst., is being given special prominence by the committee, and their efforts are receiving well-merited support from all parts of the island. Special trophies are alloted to the following sections of poultry of £1 Is each to best male or female in Laugshaus, Plymouth Bocks, White Leghorns, Brown Leghorns, Andalusian, and Houdans; and £1 Is for best cock or cockerel in Orpingtons, Wyandottes, Minorcas, and the same for best hen or pullet in these sections ; a trophy of £8 3s for most points in Langshans, Plymouth Rocks, Orpingtons, Wyandottes, Minorcas, Leghorns, and Andalusians ; also £8 8s for most points in Wyandottes. The North Island Championships each to be competed for are ''Swan Wyarfdottes and Hamburghs (except black), In ducks there is a special of £1 Is for best Aylesbury, Rouen or Pekin, and £1 Is each to Indian Runner drake or duck; likewise for best working Homer cock and hen in the pigeons. Homing Clubs are catered for by an open flying race from New Plymouth to Palmerston North-for a gold medal.
Messrs Leary and Dixon, the Square, Palmerston North, desire to thank the residents of Foxton and stirrimnding district for t heir liberal patronage in the past, and to inform them that their warehouse holds a magnificent stock of pianos, organs, and musical instruments of every description, also Wertheim and Wheeler and Wilson’s sewing machines, and Sellar’s Celebrated washing machines, etc. Most of the piano-i are of English manufacture. whilst the Esdey make of organ is well-known throughout the world for its excellence of tone and durability.
