All Saints’ Church.
ANNUAL MEETING OF PARISHIONERS. The annual meeting of parishioners was held at 8 o’clock on Monday evening in All Saints’ schoolroom. In reviewing the work ot the Church for the past year, the Vicar remarked the inconvenience and loss caused by the loss of the local reader (Mr Fraser) who had been obliged to resign his office. Mr C. A. Exall, of Shannon, was most kindly filling the gap. A tribute of praise was paid to the faithful lay-workers of the parish The report of the Sunday School showed an increase of scholars, but a difficulty in finding teachers. Ihe Vicar was in correspondence with an English training institution with a view to obtaining a trained lay-worker for Foxton; but so far no definite arrangement had been made. In commenting upon the balancesheet, the treasurer pointed out that the general offeitones had amounted to £6z, as against £64 of the previous year- and the subscriptions were £72, as against £6O. Arrears of assessment due to the General Church Fund had been paid, amounting to £2B 15s, and current expenses fully met. Altogether the financial position was sound; but it was felt that both offertories and subscriptions should be larger in ao The Sewing Bee had worked steadily and successfully during the year, and had reduced the vicarage debt and paid off an old debt on the church. The Bee had raised in all £3O. Ihe vicarage debt now stands at £oS, The secretary of the organ fund reported that £45 ncn y ava, lable t 0; wards the purchase of a permanent instrument. .
