Dix’s Gaiety Company.

ENTERTAINMENT AT FOXTON. A good house greeted Dix’s Gaiety Company’s travelling troupe, which appeared at the Public Hall last night, and the audience went away high! / pleased with the entertainment Some of the performers were old favourites, and others who were new, soon established themselves also as warm favourites, Mr Alfred Davidson’s song “ My Sweetheart When a Boy,’' was much appreciated, the singer being the possessor of a nice cultured tenor voice. Miss Millie Bertoto’s solo was another enjoyable item which followed. The Delavales (Mr and Miss) created a most favourable impression with their song and acrobatic specialty, in which both performers did some very clever tumbling, but it was in their trick bicycle acts that they excelled. We have not had before in Foxton any performers who are so clever, and the wonderful feats were much enjoyed. This alone was worth going a long way to see. The comic element was in the capable Ijaods pf 3V|p Joe Oowan» who

brought down the house on every occasion with his comic songs and eccentricities. He had to submit to numerous recalls. Little Millie and Rosie Bertoto sang very prettily “The Dolls,” and being dressed to represent these articles. Little Miss Rosie, was particularly good in her acting, and a repetition was demanded, Mr Carl Collier gave an acceptable banjo solo, responding to a recall by giving some clever imitations on the banjo. Kelmann’s conjuring and sleight-of-hand tricks were very good, and he soon had the audience completely mystified, and his manner of getting out of a tin trunk while handcuffed, the trunk also locked, was marvellous. All the tricks were specially clever and neatly executed. The programme was concluded with a comedy “ The Lawyer’s Clerk,” in which Mr Alf. Davidson (a solicitor), Mr J. Cowan (the new clerk), and Miss Delavel (a client) took part. The piece created no end of fun. The whole programme was well sustained, and formed a capital entertainment, which was much enjoyed. To-night the company again appear, when some fresh novelties will be added to the programme,
