The late Accident
Master E. Spelman was another unfortunate who met with an accident when the mast of the Queen pf d ,f ' South broke on Tuesday. He received a riafelv knock on the knee from h portion of the falling debris, and although able to walk home at the time of the accident he has since had to lay up, and it was found that the knaecap has had a nasty jar-, which.is much bruised and of Course most painful. It is hoped that a few days rest is ah that Is, required (0 set the injured limb Wight. We learn that Mr John Commons the young fellow who received such bad injuries on Tuesday at the Port when his legs were fractured is progressing as Satisfactorily as can be expected, when the extent of the severe injuries he received is considered. Commons is a patient in Dr. Graham 3 private hospital at present, and the doctor has every hope of pulling his patient through without amputation providing any complications do not arise. Captain Harvey is slowly recover* ing from the knocking about he received, and is laid up in town. The captain’s many friends will be glad to See him about again. Captain Shaw arrived from Wellington and has taken temporary charge of the Queen dur* ing Captain Harvey’s absence.
