The meeting of the above which was to have been held for the installation of the Mayor (Mr Geo. Simpson), on Thursday evening did not UVeutuate. Those who attended were the retiring Mayor, the Mayor-elect, and Crs Gower, Speirs, Overend, Coley and Stiles, The retiring Mayor said that the absence of the Town Clerk with the keys of the office placed them in a peculiar position, as they were unable to get the necessary forms for the installation ceremony, and he thought the only way out of the aif- j ficuJty would be to postpone the matter* until Monday evening next. Proposed by Cr Gower, seconded by Cr Speirs, That the meeting be adjourned, and that the installation of Mayor take place on Monday evening next at 7-30 o'clock. Carried,
