Messes Abraham & Williams, Ltd. , Stock Report. At Palmerston we had a medium entry of sheep, which sold freely. The cattle included a line of wellbred bullocks from Raunui, which brought a good average of £6 10s Gd. Young cattle sold at higher rates. Sheep—Forward wethers, 14s lid to 15s 6d ; 2-th wethers, 12s lid ; mixed fat sheep, 16s 8d ; fat ewes, 14s 8d; store ewes, 11a to 18s; well bred Romney lambs, 10s 7d. Cattle—Pat and forward bullocks, £7 4s 6d; store bullocks, £5 7a 6d to £6; well-bred 18-mths steers, £4 ss; others, £8 4s; weaner do., 22s to £2 2s 6d ; dairy cows, £4 10s to £7los; store cows, £3 17s 6d to £4 6s; heifers in calf, £4 6s to £5; do., close to profit, £6 17s ; yearling do., 87s 6d to £8 12s 6d. Pigs—Slips, 9s 6d to 15s Gd.
Messrs Levin & Co’s Report. We offered to-day 40 bales of wool and 2600 skins and a quantity of hides and tallow. There was a larger attendance of buyers than usual from outside, and everything offered met with strong competition. The wool offered consisted largely of stragglers fleece and realised from 6sd to 7£d ; .and some lambs' wool brought 6|d to 7d. Orutchings are now coming to baud, and this description of wool realised to-day better prices than we have known for years. Good clean orutchings realised 6sd and medium, 6d. Skins sold at an advance on last sale prices of one farthing on all good lines. We quote— Skins —Merino, 6£d to 7d ; halfbreds, 6Jd to 6Jd tine crossbreds, 6d to 6jd ; coarse, ssd to 6d ; short wools, to 5d ; dead, 3£d to 4d ; lambs', ssd to 6d. Hides recovered their position again. Medium ox sold at 23s up to 265; cow hides, 15s to 17s 6d. Tallow was in good demand; station tallow brought 18s Gd. Wellington, 6th May, 1904.
