Wellington Wool and Skin Sales.
Messrs Levin & Go’s. Report.
We offered 40 bales of wool today and 2500 skins and a quantity of hides and tallow. The wool consisted of stragglers’ fleece, locks and pieces, and sold at current rates. Skins were very firm, and some of the better sorts advanced per lb. We quote Skins—Merino, 6Jd to 7d ; halfbreds, 6d to 6|d; fine crossbreds, to 6d; coarse, 5d to s|d; short wools, 4|d to 4|d; dead, 3-|d to 4d. Hides—Prices were easier somewhat owing chiefly to want of condition and care in saving the hides. Cow hides reached 15s 9d, and ox hides 235, but there were no good lots offered. Tallow was in better demand. Good mixed sold at £22 5s per ton, and station tallow, in tins and drums, sold up to 19s per cwt. Wellington, 22nd April, 1904.
