Police Court.
Friday, 25th March.
(Before Messrs T. Bennett and A. Fraser, J’s.P.) CRIMINAL. Michael Higgins, on remand, was charged with having received a dog, the property of Charles Lennex, knowlog the same to have been stolen. EviilmifP was given by Charles Wolfersatan that the dog had followed accused. Accused had net made any attempt lo keep the dog nor to send it back. Constable Forster produced a letter from Mr Harper, solicits, Otaki.to Lennex demanding return of the dog to Higgins. , . , , Mr Moore, for accused, contended there was nothing to show accused had received the dog, or knew it was stolen, and that in any case he had not made any attempt to keep it m his custody. The Bench, after consideration decided that as the evidence wa* contradictory and accused had already been in custody, the case would bs dismissed.
