A FLAXDRESSING EXHIBIT AT ST. LOUIS EXHIBITION.
TO THE EDITOR OP THE MANAWATU HERALD. Sir, —Might I suggest that the hemp millers of this district will lose the opportunity of their lives if they do not move now in securing an exhibition of their great industry at the Great Fair to be held at St. Louis from May to October of this year. I believe that if the necessary representations were made to the Government, the whole expense of running a stripper for a few minutes each day at the Fair would be borne by the Government themselves. To secure this of course a little energy must be shown by those more immediately interested. I would suggest that the Mayor be asked to convene a meeting, say for Thursday evening next, to decide the question of whether an exhibit of the kind suggested cannot be secured. This proposal only wants initiating to ensure its being carried to a successful conclusion. 1 am, &c., Phormium Tenax.
