Dr Dowle.

INSULT BRITISH SUBJECTS,

Dr Dowie, at a meeting held at Adelaide on Friday night, made an attack on the King, of whose piety, he said, no one could boast. Nobody imagined that he had much religion to spare. He only hoped he had enough to get him to Heaven, that if he had it would only be by the skin of his teeth.

The Mayor has written to Dowie stating his remarks were an insult to every British subject, that Dowie is a disgrace to his nationality, and that if he repeats such insults he will be summarily ejected from the Town Hall by the police.

DOWIE EJECTED FROM THE TOWN HALL.

In consequence of his remarks about the King the Mayor has notified Dowie that he will not be allowed to hold the meetings announced for the Town Hall, and further, that the use of the hall has been cancelled.

The Premier has informed Dowie that owing to his disloyal utterances the Government has decided that he will not be allowed to hold a meeting in any building under Government control.

An influentially signed memorial has been presented to the Premier asking him to demand a full apology from Dowie.
