St. Patrick’s Day Sports.

On Thursday the above sports will be held, and if the weather should prove fine, a really enjoyable day may be spent in the Park. The committee have everything well in hand so that there should not be any hitch in the proceedings. The tracks are in capital order and as the handicaps for the adults’ races appear to have given every satisfaction, some exciting finishes should result. The children’s interests have been considered, and there will be races of all descriptions for them. There will also be a lunch for the children as well as afternoon tea for the ladies. The prize for the baby show will be half-a-dozen photos of the winner, kindly given by Mr Christian. It is to be hoped that the public will roll up in full force, and thus encourage those who have the matter in hand, so that the function will be both a success financially and otherwise.

The following should be well up in their respective races One mile bike, Whibley i, Shadbolt a, Withers 3. Two mile, Dunn i, Richards 2, Marshall 3. Three mile, Marshall 1, Whibley 2, Shadbolt 3. 100 yards, Mousley x, Alzdorf 2, Coley 3. 300 yards, Coley 1, Alzdorf 2, Harper 3. Messrs Staples and Co., of Wellington have donated the sum of £1 is to the funds, through Mr Levett.

A grand concert and dance will be held in the evening in aid of the funds of St. Mary’s church. The programme is a lengthy one, and is advertised in another column.
