STOPPAGE OF LOAN EXPENDITURB. A deputation, who stated that they represented seven thousand genuine unemployed, waited on the ActingPremier and asked that the reproductive works sanctioned by Parliament should be started, and that those which had been shut down should be resumed. They declared that the stoppage of Government works had rendered thousands of men idle, and thousands were still being discharged. Mr B. KWise, in replying, said the utmost the Government expected to get in tfie next two years was barely sufficient to carry out the ttforka already started. : They must look' Idrriaffl iin the near future almost to a Cessation of expenditure of borrdwdl' 1 nibhey. He could promise the'Unemployed nothing excepting land; settlement and subsistence work;
