School Requirements.

A meeting ot the Foxton School Committee was to have been held last night, but owing to the non-attendance of several members the meeting lapsed for the want of a quorum. This is to be regretted, as the meeting had been called to consider an unfavourable reply received from the Wanganui Education Board in regard to. further accommodation necessary at the local school, and which has repeatedly been applied for. The only members present were Messrs A. D. Clemelt (chair), S. H, Baker (secretary), C. L. Barnard and Rev, H. F. Wilson. It has been pointed out by us on several occasions the overcrowded slate of the school, and from a comparison of the number on the roll and the floor space allowed for the scholars more particularly in the East Room (Miss and Infant Room (Miss WanklynV), it is found to be far too inadequate, and the manner in which the Committee is being treated by the Board in not carrying out their wishes immediately is becoming scandalous. It is of vital importance that the scholars attending our schools should have sufficient breathing space, and the Com mittee would probably be acting wisely if they closed the school for a period. Where bodies have been found to lack in their duties in carrying out urgent work, the course described has been taken, and with good results.
