The Te Awaite Murder.
Three young men working at a threshing mill at Dreyerton informed the police at Masterton on Saturday that they had seen Ellis, alias McKenzie—wanted in connection with the murder of Leonard Oollinson—at Dreyerton, nine miles from Masterton, on Wednesday evening. They were in the river-bed, they said, when they saw the man, and went up to him and spoke to him. He said little, but acted suspiciously, and walked off in the direction of Dreyerton. On being shown a photo grr hof Ellis at the Police station, id it was that of the man they ■ in the river-bed. The police went out on Saturday to Dreyerton, and as far as Mauriceville, but found no trace of the man.—N.Z. Times.
Detective Broborg, who is investigating the Te Awaite murder case, returned to Wellington on Friday to consult with Inspector Ellison. He states that there are no fresh develop ments in connection with the case.
