Murderer Attacked in the Dock.
BY VICTIM’S SON AND SON-IN-LAW. Violent scenes were witnessed in the courthouse, Peak Hill, N.B.W],, daring the inquest on William Tregaskis, for whose murder a Chinaman named Ah Chick is in The prisoner was present handcuffed, and as he entered the court Oxley, a justice of the peace and a son-in-law of the murdered man, struck Ah Chick a terrible blow on the mouth and felled him to the ground. Oxley was at once secured, and the inquest proceeded quietly till deceased’s son, when giving evidence, hurled a stone, striking the Chinaman in the face and inflicting an ugly wound. A violent struggle took place before the son was handcuffed The friends of the dead man strenuously endeavoured during the general confusion .to get possession of the prisoner, who was defended by the police and jury. The inquest was resumed and a verdict of wilful murder was rq turned.
