Masonic.
On Thursday last at Foxton the consecration of the Te Awahou Lodge of Freemasons and installation took place.
The lodge was tyled at 4 o’clock when the ceremony of consecration was performed in a moat impressive manner by the Most Worshipful Grand Master Bco. H. J. Williams, assisted by the Grand Secretary Bro. M. Nicool, and other Grand Lodge officers.
The brethren called off at 580 resuming at 7 p.m., when Wor. Bro. A. D. Olemett was duly installed in the chair of King Solomon in an. eient form by the Installing Master, Most Worshipful Brother the Grand gtoniary.
The following officers were then for the ensuing year:— POL Bro. L. E. Roade, 1.P.M.; Bro. A. Fraser, S.W.; Bro. W. S. Stewart, J.W.; Bro. C. L, Barnard, Treasurer; P.M. Bio. T. Haywood, Secretary; Bro. J. Carrie, S.D.; Bro. G. A. v;. Hunt, J.D.; Bro. A. kaing, 5.8.; Bro. C. F. Carter, ; Bro. R. Noonan, LG.; Bro. C, Hood, O.G. Hearty good wishes and congratulations from lodges in various parts of the colony having been given, the lodge closed in the usual Masonic manner at 9.80 p.m. The brethren then resumed in the fourth degree when a very pleasant time was spent.
Masonic honors and songs interspersed the toasts. The principal features of the evening were the powerful and interesting speeches upon the progress and prosperity of Freemasonry by the Grand Master and Grand Secretary.
The W.M.’s and brethren wore present from the various lodges throughout the district. Sixty brethren were present, all uniting in giving Lodge Te Awahou a good send-off.
The brethren adjourned at 11.80 p.m. after singing the Masonic “ Auld Lang Syne."
