A Sad Fatality.

A NAPIER LADY RUN OVER

BY a TRAIN,

A sad fatal accident occurred on Tuesday evening at Hastings. Just as the express train from Wellington was coming into the station there, Miss Jeannie Duncan Heath, a young lady living in Napier, and employed as a typist and stenographer at Frimley Canning Factory, was riding her bicycle beside the incoming train in order to get on to the platform, when she somehow collided with a pedestrian. She was precipitated on to the line, three carriages and the guard’s van passing over her. When pulled out it was found that the body had been mangled almost beyond recognition. Although medical assistance was immediately available death had been instantaneous. The deceased young lady, who was very highly esteemed, was the daughter of the late Mr McNeil Heath, at one time headmaster of the Napier Boys’ High School.
