Small-pox in Christchurch.
GOVERNOR VACCINATED,
No fresh cases of Small -pox were reported on Tuesday morning. The Health authorities are watching a possible case in a factory just outside the centre of the city, but the supposed syiilpooras are understood to be very mild, and isolation has not been thought necessary. According to Truth, if tho disease spreads to any great extent the Christchurch schools will not be reopened on Monday next. His Excellency the Governor and Lord Northland were vaccinated at Christchurch on Tuesday morning. The old Colonial Bank buildings were opened as a vaccination bureau, and 638 people were vaccinated. Only three places are now isolated, the rest having been sufficiently fumigated and released. The vaccine “ factory ” at blastings is turning out about a thousand tubes a day, and as tho demand is still increasing arrangements are being made for increasing the output to 200 Q,
The Sydney Board of Health has decided that all vessels from New Zealand shall undergo a special inspection. Passengers from Lyttelton are to go into quarantine unless they have been successfully vaccinated fifteen days prior to their arrival. Others are to endure quarantine for twentymne days. i Another suspected case of smallpox was discovered yesterday morning and sent to Bottle Lake. Tho suspect is a female servant at St. Luke’s vicarage. She has been indisposed for 24 hours, and the symptoms are very slight, The number at present in the hospital at Christchurch suffering from smallpox is 11, with two suspects and 25 contacts.
