The Far East.
RUSSIA WANTS MORE SUBMARINES. Russia is trying to purchase three French submarines for service in the Far East. INSURANCE AGAINST WAR. JAPS PREPARING TO BLOCK A LINE. Lloyd’s insurance against war in a month is fifty guineas, and against Britain being forced to take up arms ten guineas. Two hundred Japanese military engineers are distributed at various points of the Trans-Siberian railway disguised as Chinese coolies and in other occupations, ready to explode the line. SUPPLIES FOR JAPAN. Several large steamers are reported to have been chartered to carry Newcastle coal to the Par East, and enquiries are being made for supplies of tinned meat for the Japanese army.
