Wellington Wool and Skin Sales.
Messrs Levin & Co., report:—We offered to-day 8660 skins and a large quantity of wool in fadges and bags. Buying continued on the basis of the last skin sale held early in December, with the exception that Merino skins and fine crossbreds were in better demand and advanced a farthing. We quote— Skins—Merinos, 6£d to 7d; halfbreds, 6d to 6fd; fine crossbreds, s&d to 6d ; coarse, 5d to 5Jd ; dead, 3£d to 4d ; lambs, 4d to 4Jd ; pelts, 8d to Is 2d each.
Hides—Only a poorly saved lot were catalogued. Prices steady. Ox hides, 17s 6d to 23s ; cow hides, 18s to 15a ; calf skins, Is to 2s. Tallow —Good mixed, 20s to 20s 6d; station fat, 17s to 18s; rough fat 13s to 15s. Wellington, Bth Jan., 1904.
