Education In Britain.
THE SYSTEM INADEQUATE.
Sir Norman Lockyer has been installed as "President of the British Association for the Advancement of Science. In the coarse of an address be declared that twenty-four millions were required to place British University education on a par with that of the United States and Germany, eight millions being required for construction and sixteen for endowment and equipment. Lockyer overstated an excellent case and no Government would submit to a scheme of such proportions, but Sir N. Lockyer’s protest against the existing conditions will initiate an important movement for an increase in national Scientific training.
